Ward Melville 2, Sachem East 1: Nicole Hauss scored in the 58th minute to break a tie at 1 and lead No. 9 Ward Melville (7-6-3) over No. 1 Sachem East in the Suffolk AA quarterfinals. Sarah Anderson netted the tying goal in the 50th minute for the Patriots. She also had an assist. Samantha Tarpey made three saves in the win. "I'm very pleased that we hung in there after falling down 1-0 to the top-ranked team in the tournament," said Ward Melville coach John Diehl. "It was tough but the girls hung in and never gave up." Ward Melville will visit No. 4 Smithtown West in the semifinals Friday.
