Mineola (2-1-1) trailed 4-1 at halftime before Mendes scored her first goal of the game on a penalty kick after being taken down in the box to bring the game to 4-2. Nicole Genova bent a corner kick from the left side of the field into the top-right corner of the net with 8:58 left as Mineola cut the game to 4-3. Rebecca Colgan had two goals for Valley Stream Central, which scored all four of its goals in the first half.
