Garden City 1, Wantagh 1: Kerry DeFliese's goal in the penalty kick shootout turned out to be the game-winner in No. 3 Garden City's (12-2-1) Nassau Class A semifinal win over second-seeded Wantagh. DeFliese put the Trojans on top 4-3 in the penalty kick shootout, before goalkeeper Caroline Peppard preserved the win with one final save. Peppard had four saves. Amanda Profera's goal in the 39th minute gave the Warriors a 1-0 lead. Tori Flaherty had the assist. Garden City's Julia McGuire tied the score at one in the 54th minute off an assist from Samantha Miesemer. The Trojans advance to the county final, where it will face top-seeded South Side, at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mitchel Athletic Complex in Uniondale.
