Southold 5, Greenport 2: Daniel Palencia scored two goals and Joseph Silvestro had one goal and two assists to lead No. 1 Southold (8-8-1) past No. 2 Greenport in the Suffolk Class C championship. Jaishaun McRae opened the scoring with a goal off a corner kick in the 11th minute and Southold would score three more goals over the next 16 minutes to take a 4-0 lead into halftime. Cole Brigham (nine) and Gavin Fredericks (three) combined for 12 saves in the win. This was Southold's ninth straight county title game appearance and its first win in four years, said coach Lucas Grigonis. Southold faces Rhinebeck in the Southeast Regional Class C semifinal at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Middletown.
