HIGHLIGHTS
Newfield 2, Smithtown West 0: Michael DiDominico assisted goals by Rafael Celanti and Olvin Yanes to lead Newfield (4-1) past the defending three-time Suffolk III champion. "That was our motivation today," coach Jamie Santiago said. "They're three-time defending league champions. They deserve every accolade, but we knew what we're capable of." Defenders John Alves, Adrian Izaguirre and Jarrett Meyer and keeper Matt Gmelin (six saves) held Smithtown West (3-1) scoreless -- something no other opponent had done this season. "They're the heart and soul of our team, our backline," Santiago said.
