East Islip 1, Brentwood 0: Billy Wharry scored the winner off a midfield pass from Michael Simonetti 5:44 into overtime as East Islip upset Brentwood, 1-0, yesterday in non-league boys soccer. Brentwood (0-1) entered the season ranked 23rd in the country and hadn’t lost to the East Islip since the 2002 playoffs. “Brentwood has set the standard for us and other teams to try to reach, so it’s a great experience to play well against such a terrific team,” Redmen coach Ray Lang said. “Hopefully this gives us confidence going forward.” Frank Noviello made 16 saves to lead the Redmen. “He made one huge save after another,” Lang said. “He's a tremendous presence in the box.”
