HIGHLIGHTS
Brentwood 3, Hauppauge 1: Ever Torres' goal in the 74th minute gave top-seeded Brentwood a 3-0 lead in a Class AA quarterfinal. Torres, who also had two assists, is now tied with Jeff Reh (Rocky Point, 1982-85) for fifth all-time in most career goals in Suffolk boys soccer history. The senior has 72 goals. Brentwood coach Ron Eden became the eighth coach in Suffolk boys soccer history to win 300 games. Eden is 300-49-24 in 19 seasons as the Indians' head coach. "I did not play one game of the 300 wins so it's really a credit to the kids more than anything," Eden said. "I owe a lot to the parents and club coaches because they played a role in mentoring our players before they even got to me. For me, this is a program accomplishment, not a coach's accomplishment." Brentwood (16-1-1) will host No. 4 Whitman at 2 p.m. Monday in a semifinal. Indians will appear in the county semifinal for the seventh straight season.
