Michael Chery scored on a header off a Sam Ammirati corner kick in the first half and Charlie McCarren scored on a pass from Aidan Conlon in the second half as Floral Park captured the state public school Class A championship at Faller Field in Middletown. The Knights (15-3-1) are state champions for the first time after allowing Schalmont to get off only two shots. Schalmont finished 21-2.
