HIGHLIGHTS
Smithtown West 3, Brentwood 2: Sophomore Matthew McDonnell scored a hat trick, including the game-winner with four seconds left in the first overtime period to lift No. 1 Smithtown West over No. 4 Brentwood in a Suffolk Boys Soccer AA semifinal. McDonnell received a throw-in from Garrett Sweeney at the top of the box and one-timed the ball into the net to win it. After Brentwood (15-4) led 1-0 at halftime, McDonnell tied it off a cross from Chris Hettler 15 minutes into the second half. Ever Torres then gave Brentwood a 2-1 lead, but McDonnell tied it again with 2:40 left in the half off another feed from Hettler to force overtime. Smithtown West (18-0-1) will face No. 3 Central Islip (16-2) in the final, Thursday at 6 p.m. at Dowling.
