Matthew Payamps of St. Anthony's won the championship 3,000-meter run in 8:31.31, the fastest time in New York this year, and the second fastest time ever registered by a Long Island resident, according to coach Tim Dearie in the Yale Classic at Yale University. Brendan Dearie placed sixth in 8:40.25, the third fastest time in New York this year, and the fifth fastest time ever by a Long Island resident.
