Floral Park 57, North Shore 54: Robert Sjoberg scored on a 19-yard touchdown run with 1:46 remaining as Floral Park rallied for 22 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to beat North Shore, 57-54, yesterday in Nassau III football. The Knights forced a turnover on downs at their 44 with 5:55 left, setting up the winning, seven-play drive. Josh Corbett threw touchdown passes to Frank DeJesus and Brian Barry as the Knights surged back in the fourth. Tristan Vitale's 10-yard TD run had given North Shore a 54-35 lead in the third quarter. Corbett completed 11 of 19 passes for 162 yards and four TDs, and ran for 130 yards and two scores to lead Floral Park (2-2). He also had two interceptions, including a pick on the Vikings' last drive with 1:15 left. Barry had seven catches for 106 yards and three touchdowns. "We started blitzing more and applying pressure and we forced some turnovers," said Knights coach Mike Spina, adding that it was the highest-scoring game he had been a part of in 30 years as a coach. "Once we closed the gap, our kids started getting some confidence and thinking we could actually win it." Floral Park blocked three extra-point kicks, two by Cole Horan. Anthony Jimenez had 10 tackles and an interception and was 7-for-7 on extra points. "We always tell the kids that special teams is big, even extra points," Spina said. "Don't just put your head down and [concede] the extra point because it could be the difference in a game. It was this time."
