Syosset 21, Hempstead 20: Josh Elman caught the game-winning touchdown pass from Mustafa Mozawalla for No. 6 Syosset to help upset No. 3 Hempstead in the quarterfinals of the Nassau I playoffs. Syosset held on, not allowing a Hempstead first down, and knelt the clock out. Syosset scored 14 points in the fourth quarter and erased a 14-point halftime deficit. Mozawalla accounted for all three of the Braves' touchdowns. He ran one and threw one each to Nicholas Padula and Elman. Syosset (5-4) will play No. 1 Farmingdale 5 p.m. Nov. 12, at Hofstra in the semifinals.
