Smithtown West vs Lindenhurst

Lindenhurst 28, Smithtown West 27: John Gorman played tight coverage on a two-point conversion attempt pass that sailed out of the end zone with 32 seconds left in the fourth quarter to preserve a 28-27 victory for No. 3 Lindenhurst over No. 6 Smithtown West in a Suffolk Division II quarterfinal on Friday night. Brayden Stahl found Jacque LaPrarie for a 30-yard touchdown pass for Smithtown West to make it a one-point contest. Brady Dolan broke a 16-yard touchdown run around the outside to give Lindenhurst a 28-21 lead with 1:38 left in the fourth quarter following Jack Mazziotti's PAT. Dolan also recovered the onside kick to clinch the victory. Dolan rushed for 102 yards on 10 carries, recorded an interception and had seven tackles. Chris Carson rushed for 104 yards on 10 carries, had three receptions for 60 yards and recorded two interceptions. Carson had a 34-yard touchdown reception from Christian Capogna for Lindenhurst's first score in the second quarter after Smithtown West scored the game's first 14 points. Carson also had a 43-yard interception return for a touchdown to give Lindenhurst a 21-14 lead in the third quarter. Christian Campay added 10 tackles. Stahl completed 32 of 55 passes for 428 yards with four touchdowns and four interceptions, LaPrarie had 14 receptions for 190 yards and two touchdowns and Jack Melore had 17 receptions for 235 yards and two touchdowns for Smithtown West (5-4). Lindenhurst (7-2) plays the winner of No. 7 Connetquot/No. 2 Northport in the Suffolk Division II semifinals at the higher seed next weekend.
