Roosevelt 37, West Hempstead 20: Justin Terry returned a kick 91 yards with nine minutes remaining in the fourth quarter to give Roosevelt a lead it would never relinquish in its Conference IV opener. Shamari Kirkpatrick ran for 163 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries and Stephon Vailes went 2-for-3 for 20 yards and a touchdown pass to Yusuf Young. Young also contributed with two sacks and the Roosevelt defense forced four turnovers in the game.
