Mineola 21, Valley Stream South 0: James Gerstner had 129 yards and two touchdowns on seven carries to lead Mineola in its Conference IV opener. Gerstner scored on runs of 9-yards and 70-yards. Brian Smith scored on a 97-yard kick off return on the opening kickoff of the second half to make the game 14-0. Smith also had a sack on defense. Ed Hincapie had seven tackles and a sack to lead the defense.
