Ward Melville 13, Central Islip 12: Ward Melville stopped a fourth-and-goal run attempt from the 3-yard line with 2:30 remaining in the fourth quarter to preserve a 13-12 victory over Central Islip in Suffolk Division I football Saturday. Nick Gaffney had a 47-yard touchdown run to give Ward Melville a 13-6 lead early in the third quarter. Central Islip's Kevin Mills found Jaylen Davis for a 52-yard touchdown with five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter to cut Ward Melville's lead to 13-12 with five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, but the Patriots stopped the two-point conversion pass attempt.
