Riverhead 44, Half Hollow Hills West 21: Ken Simco capped the opening drive of the second half with his second 1-yard TD run of the game to give No. 1 Riverhead (8-1) a 27-14 lead over No. 8 Half Hollow Hills West (5-4) in a Suffolk II quarterfinal. Riverhead opened the second half with a six-minute drive that went 65 yards with Jeremiah Cheatom carrying most of the load. After Hills West came within 27-21 in the fourth, Riverhead scored 19 unanswered points to seal the game. Simco hit Mike VanBrommel for a 3-yard TD pass to make it 35-21 with seven minutes left. A safety on the next Hills West possession made it 37-21 with 5:40 left, and Ryun Moore's 1-yard TD with 3:15 to play made it 44-21. Cheatom had 39 carries for 166 yards and a TD. Jon Lee and Andrew Kinard each had eight tackles. Riverhead will host No. 5 Newfield in a semifinal, Saturday.
