HIGHLIGHTS
Mt. Sinai 20, Greenport/Southold 14: Mike Cortese rushed for 206 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries to lead No. 2 Mt. Sinai (7-2) over No. 7 Greenport/Southold (6-3) in the Suffolk IV quarterfinals. Despite being shutout in the first half, Mt. Sinai's offense responded with a vengeance in the second half scoring 20 points. Cortese ran a trap up the middle for a 56-yard touchdown run with five minutes remaining to give Mt. Sinai a 20-7 lead. "He's a great running back," said coach Vin Ammirato "We can put the team on his shoulders and he can carry us. Credit should also be given to the offensive line." Linebacker Nick Cavaliere led the defense with seven tackles and linebacker Anthony Abbondanza forced a fumble and recorded six tackles, two for a loss. Mt. Sinai advances to the semifinals at 6 p.m. on Friday against No. 1 Babylon.
