HIGHLIGHTS
Quarterback Hayden Sofield's sneak on the first possession of the second overtime period propelled Long Beach past Calhoun, 12-6, in Nassau Conference II. The Marines (1-1) converted on 3rd-and-1 with a Sofield sneak to extend the drive. That set up a 15-yard pass completion from Hayden Sofield to Izzy Maldonado. Calhoun got the ball first in the second overtime and on the first play Long Beach's John Schurin collected a sack. The series ended with a pass breakup on the goal line by Ryan Buonocore. In the first overtime, Sofield completed a third down pass play for 15 yards to Jack Miller to set up Ryan Buonocore's 2-yard TD run. Buonocore rushed for 45 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. Calhoun answered with a Matthew-Jayson Edouard 3-yard run on its first possession of overtime.
