HIGHLIGHTS
East Rockaway 54, Island Trees 42: Franklin Infante ran for 190 yards on 25 carries and had five touchdowns and Rob Welch rushed for 153 yards on 20 carries and had a touchdown to lead East Rockaway (1-0) in its season opener in Nassau Conference IV. East Rockaway rushed for 365 yards. Julian Palma had a 85 yard kick return in the first quarter. Aiden Green recovered an onside kick mid way through the third quarter with East Rockaway up 38-36 to change the momentum of the game. Ryan Mastropaolo ran for 77 yards on 18 carries and had two touchdowns, Troy Silva Jr. rushed for 125 yards on 10 carries and scored a touchdown and Ryan Wells threw two touchdown passes for Island Trees. East Rockaway played its "home" game at Malverne High School where it will be playing all of its home games as a new turf field is built at East Rockaway.
