St. John the Baptist 22, Holy Cross 15: Nicholas Mazziotti completed 4 of 9 passes for 94 yards and two touchdown passes, including a 15-yard TD pass to Mark Anthony Scott Jr. in the fourth quarter to give No. 5 St. John the Baptist a 20-15 lead over No. 4 Holy Cross in the first round of the CHSFL AA playoffs. Christian Maisel ran in the ensuing two-point conversion to put the St. John the Baptist ahead 22-15. It was the first playoff win in four years for the Cougars (4-5), according to coach Phil Alba. The Cougars will next visit No. 1 Moore Catholic Saturday at 12:30 p.m. Maisel had a 72-yard punt return in the first quarter and had three catches for 73 yards and a score. Safety Vincent DiMaria had two interceptions in his first varisty start and seven tackles and Christopher Annitto had 12 tackles (two for a loss).
