Roosevelt 35, Valley Stream North 6: Johnnie Akins had 11 carries for 206 yards, including a score on an iso play where he ran up the middle, broke numerous tackles and scampered into the endzone with the 66-yard TD for Roosevelt (1-0), which took a 21-6 lead with 1:18 left in the first quarter in Nassau-IV. Akins scored on another 66-yard run in the third quarter, before the game was suspended for lightning. Defensive end Raymond Jones helped keep VSN off the board for two quarter with eight tackles, three for a loss. He also had two sacks.
