HIGHLIGHTS

Mt. Sinai 11, Babylon 8: Shane Bombace was serving double-duty Friday night. After scoring a goal with two assists in a Mt. Sinai boys soccer victory earlier in the evening, Bombace rushed to the football game, arrived at halftime and delivered the winning 37-yard field goal to break a tie at 8 as Mt. Sinai defeated Babylon, 11-8, in Suffolk IV football. Bombace's field goal came on the first play of the fourth quarter, which was set up by Mike Sabella's 50-yard run. Sabella finished with 108 yards on 14 carries. Mt. Sinai secured the victory with Dominic Boscarino's interception in the end zone with 30 seconds left after Babylon drove the ball inside the 20-yard line. Mount Sinai (4-0) tied the score at 8 when Brendon Ventarola found Boscarino on a slant for a 7-yard touchdown on third-and-goal with 14 seconds remaining in the first half, followed by Ventarola running in the two-point conversion to tie the score. The tying score was set up by a 19-yard rush by Boscarino and a 23-yard pass from Ventarola to Bobby DeMeo. Defensively, Antonio Palmioto had nine tackles (five for a loss), DeMeo had nine tackles (four for a loss), Ryan Jones had seven tackles and Sabella had six tackles in the win.
