HIGHLIGHTS
Floral Park 24, Hewlett 9: Free safety Brian Barry had 23 receiving yards on two receptions and one punt return for a touchdown to lead Floral Park (4-2) in Nassau III. Barry's touchdown came with 9:15 remaining in the third quarter, when he returned a punt for 58 yards, giving Floral Park a 10-3 lead. "It was great to get the lead. It was a defensive battle. Whichever team was going to create that turnover, I felt, was going to be the team to pull this one out," coach Mike Spina said. In the fourth quarter, Floral Park went into a special coverage and put pressure on Hewlett's quarterback. Conor Vidasolo picked off a pass and ran it back for a 36-yard touchdown, giving Floral Park a 24-3 with 5:24 remaining. "That sealed the game for us," Spina said. Conor Horan led the defense with 12 tackles. Conor's brother Cole had nine tackles. Alec Ascani had eight tackles and one sack. Frank Finochio had six tackles. Patrick Schmid made a game-changing fumble recovery at the 1-yard line with the score tied at three in the second quarter. "I thought that was the play that gave us the momentum going into the second half."
