Mineola 34, Island Trees 14: Matt Tarantola opened the second half with an 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, starting down the left sideline then breaking to the middle of the field to give Mineola a 21-14 lead in Nassau IV. Tarantola also scored on Mineola's first offensive play of the game, taking an out route 38 yards down the left sideline which juking out multiple defenders. Joe Carr rushed for 58 yards on 11 carries and two touchdowns for Mineola (1-1). Jason Eccher completed 8 of 13 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown and Mike Tullo had four receptions for 83 yards in the win. Eccher added an interception on defense.
