Abe Cordero sacked Island Trees quarterback Ryan Costanza as time expired. Cordero made 15 tackles and had three sacks, and four quarterback hurries for Valley Stream South (2-0). Nick Hernandez's 54-yard rushing touchdown with 11:00 left in the third quarter gave the Falcons a 19-13 lead. Michael Hicks' 78-yard run with 10 minutes left in the game increased their lead to 25-13. Hicks rushed for 185 yards on 12 carries and Hernandez added 120 yards on nine carries and two touchdowns.
