Valley Stream South 30, Mineola 21: Doncell connected with Nick Hernandez for a 19-yard touchdown on a fourth-and-10 in the third quarter to put Valley Stream South ahead 24-21 in its Nassau IV opening win. Hernandez, who ran for 181 yards and two touchdowns ran for a 67-yard score with under four minutes remaining in regulation to seal the win. Michael Hicks ran for 106 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries, Abe Cordero had seven tackles and a sack and Cedric Pierre-Paul and Jason Vincent each had five tackles.
