HIGHLIGHTS

Massapequa 49, Syosset 28: Senior running-back Nick Capuana rushed for 105 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries to lead Massapequa (4-1) over Syosset (3-2) in Conference I. Capuana also caught two passes for 10 yards. "He's very versatile. He runs out of the backfield, catch passes out of the backfield, and we'll line him up in the slot. He does it all. Overall, he had the most complete game out of all of our players," assistant coach Nick Armstrong said. Capuana's second rushing touchdown of the game came from a goal-line powerplay, giving Massapequa a 28-0 lead with ten minutes left in the half. Senior Quarterback Matt Caracappa had a successful game, rushing for 10 yards and one touchdown and throwing for 142 yards on 19 attempts with one touchdown. Senior wide receiver Nick Balsano caught an uncontested 30-yard post-route pass from Caracappa with about three minutes left in the first half to give Massapequa a 35-0 lead. "It was a nice way to end the second half and put a stamp on it. To leave with a nice play like that gave us a lot of good energy going into half time," Armstrong said. With four minutes remaining in the third quarter, Capuano saw a crease, ran up the middle and directly into the end zone for a 41-yard touchdown, giving Massapequa a 42-7 lead. Junior defensive tackle Dennis Mahoney, senior defensive tackle Chris Cornell and junior linebacker Paul Dilena each had one sack. On defense, Capuana led the team with ten tackles. "We worked extremely hard this week because we got beat pretty bad by Farmingdale last week. Our guys were motivated after a tough loss. We're very satisfied with the win,” Armstrong said. Jack Korber rushed for 81 yards and one touchdown on seven carries and Craig Berge rushed for 25 yards and one tocuhdown on one carry.
