HIGHLIGHTS

Islip 20, West Babylon 0: Bailey Kolovich returned an interception 18 yards for a touchdown, and added a second pick that set up Islip's only points on offense as the previously-winless Buccaneers defeated previously-unbeaten West Babylon, 20-0, in Suffolk III game Wednesday. Kolovich's 18-yard return for a score gave Islip a 9-0 lead. Kris McDonald, who was 2-for-2 on PATs, also drilled field goals of 36 yards (in the first quarter) and 37 yards (in the fourth quarter). Islip (1-3) had a season-high four interceptions. West Babylon is 3-1. "We just tried to simplify everything," Islip coach Jamie Lynch said. "We put the kids in positions to make plays." Lynch and his staff made the decision to move Kolovich this week from inside linebacker to strong safety. It paid off big time. "West Babylon has one of the most explosive offenses we've seen on film," Lynch said. "We put a lot helmets on them and pressured their quarterback. Bailey just has a great knack for the ball." Sophomore Joe Juengerkes added an interception with one second left in the first half that Islip converted into its first field goal. Sterling Fitz-Henley also had an interception. He also added 81 rushing yards on 13 carries. Nick Barry, who had a 6-yard touchdown run, had 69 yards on 15 carries, and Val Roselli had 48 yards on 10 carries. "We preached all week that this was our season," Lynch said. "We had to make a stand and beat a quality team, and if we did we'd be right back in the mix to save our season."
