West Islip 45, Smithtown East 14: Jake Guercio had 247 yards on 18 carries with three touchdowns and added 92 passing yards and two scores on 4 of 6 passing to lead No. 1 West Islip over No. 8 Smithtown East in the Suffolk III quarterfinals. Antonio Alicea and Kevin DiCapua each had receiving touchdowns and James Romano had six solo tackles and three assisted tackles at defensive end. Pat Mulcahy forced a fumble and blocked a punt for the second straight week. West Islip (9-0) hosts No. 4 Bellport Saturday.
