HIGHLIGHTS

Carey 55, Long Beach 54: Dan Conte completed 5-of-7 passes for 200 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for 136 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries to lead Carey (2-2) to a slim Nassau A-II victory. After Long Beach opened the scoring in the first quarter, Conte put Carey ahead 7-6 with a 36-yard touchdown run. Zach Dente extended the lead to 13-6 on a 13-yard carry into the end zone. Tyler DeMeo's 68-yard touchdown reception gave Carey a 20-12 lead late in the first quarter. DeMeo had three catches for 134 yards and two touchdowns, while also picking up 14 yards on two carries and converting 3-of-6 extra point attempts. Shaheem Taylor-White scored on a 41-yard touchdown pass from Conte to give Carey a 42-20 lead. Taylor-White totaled 21 rushes for 182 yards and the touchdown reception. After finishing the first half with a 28-20 lead, a total of 47 points were scored in the third quarter alone, with Long Beach putting up 20 and Carey tallying 27. Carey entered the fourth quarter with a 55-40 lead. Two Long Beach touchdowns brought them within a point, but a missed extra-point allowed Carey to hold onto a one-point lead late in the fourth. An interception by Dominic Scorcia with less than two minutes remaining sealed the close win for Carey.
