Connetquot 36, Longwood 34: In the third overtime, Tony Del Negro (14 tackles) and Luicano DeRenzo combined on a tackle to prevent a potential game tying two-point conversion and seal the win for Connetquot (2-2) in Suffolk I. "We think we have a really special team this year," defensive coordinator Mike Konsevitch said. "When we went down 16 we did not think the game was over. The team showed a tremendous amount of heart and character." Del Negro also caught a four-yard touchdown pass from Will Ross with 1:10 remaining in the fourth quarter to put Connetquot down two points. The Del Negro touchdown capped a 16 play 52 yard drive, which included two fourth down conversions. Brandon Hurley converted the two-point conversion to tie the game at 22. Connetquot got the ball first in the first overtime, drove down to the one-yard line, but Longwood's Christian Reuthebuck intercepted the Ross pass. Reuthebuck started to run towards the end zone, but according to Section XI rules, once a turnover occurs in overtime the play is blown dead. On Longwood's first possession of overtime, the Lions missed a potential game-winning 38-yard field goal. Longwood scored on their first possesion of the second overtime, but missed the extra point. On Connetquot's second possesion of overtime, Christian Pisano caught a seven-yard touchdown pass from Ross to tie the game at 28 for the Thunderbirds. However, Chris Bernard missed the ensuing extra point, which would have won the game. George Wilchens caught a 23-yard touchdown pass from Ross on Connetquot's third possesion of overtime and Hurley converted the two-point conversion to put the Thunderbirds up 36-28. Longwood answered the Connetquot touchdown with a six-yard run by Latrell Horton, but failed to convert the two-point conversion that would have sent the game to a fourth overtime. Ross completed 9 of 15 passes for 120 yards and three touchdowns and Hurley rushed for 107 yard on 24 carries and two touchdowns.
