HIGHLIGHTS
Lawrence 34, South Side 3: Lawrence defeated South Side handily to open the season in a Nassau-III matchup. Danny Amaya opened the scoring for Lawrence with a 19-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Akym Land in the first quarter. South Side made a 34-yard field goal in the second quarter to cut the lead to 7-3, but Lawrence responded with a three-yard scoring run from Chris Collier to enter the half with a 14-3 advantage. Lawrence broke the game open in the third quarter, as Land found Amaya again on a three-yard scoring pass before Aaron Jackson's 40-yard interception return for a touchdown, extending the lead to 27-3. Christian Fredericks finished the scoring for Lawrence with a 42-yard scamper to the end zone in the fourth.
