Newfield 34, Huntington 14: Defending Long Island Class II champion Newfield (1-0) shut out visiting Huntington (0-1) in the second half and broke open a tied score with a 20-point second half en route to a season-opening win. Freshman quarterback Max Martin found senior running back Justin Ottenwalder for a 70-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring. Senior Isaiah Isreal later added a 15-yard touchdown run as Newfield led 14-0 after the first quarter. Huntington would rally with back-to-back scoring runs by Jared Leake (25 yards) and Kei'Ron Byrams (1 yard) to tie the score before halftime.
