Garden City 24, Long Beach 7: Brian Haeffner had 96 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries to lead No. 1 Garden City (9-0) over No. 8 Long Beach in a Nassau II quarterfinal. Haeffner broke the program record for single season rushing yards (1,273) and touchdowns (23) and the all-time program record for rushing yards (2,475), according to statistician Charlie Menges. Haeffner's five-yard run in the third quarter put Garden City ahead 24-0. The Trojans will play No. 4 Wantagh 7:30 p.m. Friday at Hofstra.
