Eastport-South Manor 35, Sayville 34: Eastport-South Manor 35, Sayville 34: Austin Macchi, on a quarterback sneak, ran behind right guard Joe Pesce and plunged for a two-point conversion in overtime to give Eastport-South Manor (2-1) a one-point win over Sayville (1-2) in Division III. Cole Zeller blasted toward the right behind Pesce's blocking, broke two tackles and scored a 15-yard touchdown on the second play of the Sharks' drive, which cut the deficit to one point. Eastport-South Manor won the coin toss after regulation and decided to start the overtime on defense. Sayville quarterback Coan, on a draw play, ran 11 yards for a touchdown to put the Golden Flashes ahead. Austin Macchi, on a quarterback draw, went untouched right up the middle for a 67-yard touchdown, and then Nijay Brown's extra point tied the score at 27 with 1:20 left in the fourth quarter. Kenny Dunne and Pat Minogue each made sacks to prevent Sayville from taking the lead before the end of regulation. It was Eastport-South Manor's first win against Sayville in ESM's 10-year program history, according to Mastronardi, who is in his third season as head coach. "Anytime you get an opportunity to play against one of the storied programs on Long Island, it's a huge step in the right direction," Mastronardi said. "Our kids certainly came to play against a great football program." ESM had three players rush for more than 100 yards in the game. Zeller had 128 yards on 18 carries, Macchi had 108 yards on seven carries and Mike Bianco had 102 yards on eight carries. Bianco led ESM with 12 tackles and Pat Minogue had six, including three that went for a loss.
