HIGHLIGHTS
St. Dominic 12, Great Neck South 0: George Opara’s 3-yard touchdown run sealed the win with 1:30 left for St. Dominic (1-1) in Nassau V. This was the Bayhawks’ first conference victory in almost 25 years, after the school’s football program went dormant from the late 1980s until 2010, coach Ed Tini said. St. Dominic went 0-7 in conference play last year, its first season in Conference V, and played a non-league schedule in 2011. Justin Rodriguez ran for 152 yards on 20 carries behind an offensive line powered by Dan Isaacs and Ryan Kelly. Dominic Cabey scored on a 1-yard run with three minutes left in the third quarter to give St. Dominic a 6-0 lead. Ron Opara got a sack at the Bayhawks’ 30-yard line as time expired. John Laughlin made four tackles and Joseph Venezia had three tackles. Great Neck South is 0-2.
