Garden City 35, Calhoun 7: Anthony Fitzsimmons broke a 74-yard touchdown run on Calhoun's second play from scrimmage, but No. 2 Garden City (8-1) answered on its first series of the Nassau II quarterfinal with a 46-yard scoring run by Brian Haeffner. The Trojans never trailed again, as Haeffner ran for two more touchdowns and finished with 89 yards. The junior surpassed the 1,000-yard mark for the season. Justin Samardich ran for a score and caught a touchdown pass from Tim Schmelzinger. Garden City will face either No. 3 Mepham or No. 6 Long Beach in the semifinals Nov. 15 at Hofstra. Calhoun finishes 4-5.
