HIGHLIGHTS
Sayville 38, Westhampton 19: Sam Blitman scored Sayville's first points of the season in a flash, and Matthew Selts carried the Golden Flashes the rest of the way with four total touchdowns en route to a victory in Suffolk III. Blitman took the opening kick-off 95 yards for a touchdown, running untouched up the middle before finding the right sideline around midfield. Clay Peres' block at Sayville's 45 yard-line cleared space for Blitman to cruise into the end zone and give Sayville a 6-0 lead. Westhampton would go ahead on two first-quarter TD runs by Evan Gagney, but after that Selts took over. He scored three consecutive touchdowns, starting with a 23-yard run toward the end of the first quarter that brought Sayville within 13-12 heading into the second. In the second, Selts caught two TD passes from quarterback Jack Coan, the first on a 36-yard reception out of the slot and the second on a reception out of the backfield from 16 yards away, giving Sayville a 24-13 halftime advantage. A Westhampton touchdown opened the third to make it 24-19, but a Selts 15-yard TD run early in the fourth essentially sealed the win for Sayville, making it 32-19. Selts had 233 yards of total offense--135 receiving yards and 98 rushing yards--and added 17 tackles on defense. Coan completed 13-of-22 passes for 203 yards and added a 37-yard TD run in the fourth that put the game out of reach. It was Sayville's 400th all-time victory, according to coach Robert Hoss.
