Thornton had scored the equalizer with 2:54 left in the first half on an assist from Hannah Lorenzen for Ward Melville (13-0). Taylor Gladd gave Garden City (11-1) a 1-0 lead 8:37 into the first half on an assist from Devon Heaney. Ward Melville goalie Bella Nelin had six saves for the defending Long Island Class A champs. Garden City has won three straight Nassau B titles.
