HIGHLIGHTS
Wantagh 43, Locust Valley 40: Julia Wilkinson, with a 1:40 remaining in the fourth quarter, hit a three from the left side, breaking a tie and giving No. 7 Wantagh (15-6) the edge over No. 15 Locust Valley in the Nassau Class A quarterfinals. Wantagh was down in the first half and finally took the lead midway in the third when Wilkinson and Julianna Kissane hit two three-pointers back to back. Locust Valley's Sarah Lubow, who was the leading scorer of the game with 19 points, hit a layup to tie the score, 36-36, in the fourth. Lubow scored all six of Locust Valley's points in the fourth. Wantagh's Caitlin Albanese with 20 seconds remaining had a steal in the front court then was fouled. Her free throw lead to the final score. Brianna Derham caught a steal in the final seven seconds to secure the win. Albanese tallied 15 points, eight rebounds and three assists. Wilkinson had eight points and four rebounds. Wantagh will face No. 3 North Shore at Suny-Old Westbury, Saturday at 5p.m.
