HIGHLIGHTS
Sachem East 50, Ward Melville 44: Danielle Cosgrove and Gabby Aspuru combined for 13 of Sachem East's 22 fourth-quarter points as No. 8 Sachem East defeated No. 1 Ward Melville in the Suffolk AA quarterfinals. Cosgrove finished with 17 points and 14 rebounds and Aspuru added 15 points and 11 rebounds. It was the second time a Suffolk AA girls No. 1 seed lost in the second round of the playoffs dating back to the class creation in the 2003-04 season, said coach Brent Lawrence, and Sachem East's ninth trip to the semifinals in the last 10 years. Sachem East (12-8) plays No. 4 Copiague Sunday at 10 a.m. at Stony Brook University.
