North Shore 68, Valley Stream South 35: Sophomore Gabrielle Zaffiro scored her 1,000th point with 6:22 left in the first quarter in Nassau A-III. Zaffiro, who has started since the seventh grade, finished with 30 points. "She's a scoring point guard that sees the court really well," coach Keith Freund said. "She's really worked on her jump shot this year and, more than that, is a great kid." North Shore is 4-0.
