Bellport 72, Kings Park 48: Arella Guirantes, who scored her 2,000th career point on Jan. 30, poured in a career-high 58 points to lead Bellport (9-4) in the League IV win. She split her output evenly between halves and added 19 rebounds, six steals and five blocks. Her 18 foul shots and 20 free throw attempts were also career highs. “The ways she was getting it was impressive,” coach Rodney O’Neal said. “She was double-teamed, triple-teamed. They keyed in on her, and she stepped up to the challenge.” Guirantes had 17 two-pointers and two three-pointers in addition to the foul shots. “She was working inside and outside,” O’Neal said. “Her mid-range shot was going. You can’t put her on the line. You can’t even touch her because she drains them at the foul line.” The win tied Bellport with Kings Park for second place. O’Neal said Guirantes was playing with a chip on her shoulder because she missed the previous meeting between the two teams, a 67-31 Kings Park win. “She gave one of the best performances she's ever given,” O’Neal said, “and I've been coaching her since seventh grade.”
