Island Trees 49, Bethpage 46: Gregory Avery scored 18 points, had seven assists and grabbed six rebounds to lead No. 21 Island Trees (10-10) over No. 12 Bethpage in a Nassau Class A outbracket game. Anthony Ferrufino added 13 points and 16 rebounds. This was Island Trees' first playoff win since 2002, according to coach Michael Wimmer. Bora Soybas recorded 24 points for Bethpage. Island Trees faces No. 5 South Side in the second round on Saturday, Feb. 16 at South Side High School.
