Floyd 69, Sachem North 60: It wasn't the best of starts for the William Floyd boys basketball team, but it sure was a great ending. The Colonials, who trailed by 16 at halftime, and by 21 in the third quarter used a full-court, trapping defense and a monster fourth quarter to earn a 69-60 Suffolk I road win, last night. Kendall Robinson scored 15 of his 17 points in the second half and added 12 rebounds, and Michael Thomas scored all of his 13 points in the second half for Floyd (2-0) which used a 26-5 fourth quarter to earn the win. "We just kept chipping away," Floyd coach Rob Hodgson said. "We just didn't want to rush things. You can't get it all back in one play." Sachem North's Drew Scally (20 points) hit four three-pointers in the third quarters, and another in the fourth, but Floyd used its defense and balanced scoring for the victory. Thomas hit a three-pointer with three minutes left to tie the score, as the Colonials rallied for an improbable win with an 8-for-10 effort from the foul line. "It was a classic game," Hodgson said. "It was a great game just to watch."
