HIGHLIGHTS
Central Islip 76, Longwood 59: Brandon Hodge scored a career-high 46 points to lead Central Islip to a 76-59 win over Longwood in the Musketeers non-league season-opener. Hodge, a senior shooting guard in his third season on varsity, scored 15 points in the fourth quarter to seal the win. He hit five three-pointers, and also aggressively attacked the basket and got to the line, where he hit 13 of 16 free throws. "Brandon is fearless going to the basket," Central Islip coach Jim Mott said. "Last year teams saw him as a great perimeter shooter, which he is. But he really worked on his game going to the basket and you see how that paid off tonight." Malik Clark added eight points and seven assists, and Steven Tellerius had 10 points, including consecutive threes in the second quarter to open a double-digit lead.
