New Hyde Park 68, Oceanside 67: Chris Notine drew a foul and knocked down two free throws with 4.8 seconds remaining to win it for New Hyde Park, 68-67, over Oceanside in non-league boys basketball action on Monday afternoon. Notine finished with 15 points, four assists and five steals. Charlie Avallone scored 21 points, pulled down five rebounds and handed out eight assists, while Dilpreet Singh added 16 points and four rebounds for New Hyde Park (9-3). Jake Padina contributed eight points and seven rebounds, while Alex Grant chipped in four points, nine rebounds and nine assists. Josh Gamarra led Oceanside (4-8) with 21 points, followed by Ayden Diaz with 14. New Hyde Park had trailed by as many as 18 points, 34-16, late in the second quarter, but went on a 34-15 extended run to enter the fourth quarter with a 50-49 lead. The Gladiators extended their lead to eight points, 64-56, with 3:20 left, but the Sailors responded with an 11-2 run to go back in front, 67-66, with 10 seconds left. Josh Gamarra capped off the run by Oceanside, as he converted a three-point play with a layup through a foul. However, Notine drove the lane on the ensuing play and got fouled to put himself at the free-throw line, where he made both shots to ultimately win it.
