Bridgehampton 84, Smithtown Christian 72: Sophomore Josh Lamison scored a career-high 50 points, including all 22 of Bridgehampton’s points in the fourth quarter, to lead the Killer Bees to an 84-72 win over Smithtown Christian in League VII. Lamison, a 6-1 power forward in his third year on varsity, eclipsed his previous career-high of 33 points set on Jan. 16 and established a new single-game scoring high on Long Island this season. He also grabbed 18 rebounds. He tallied 32 points in the second half was two points off the single-game school record of 52 set in 1990 by Bobby Hopson, said Bridgehampton head coach Carl Johnson. “In the first half, he just faced up in the post and went to the basket,” Johnson said. “Most of the time in the second half, especially in the fourth, he helped break the press and went coast to coast. He kept going to the basket and they didn’t have an answer for him.” Tylik Furman added 21 points for Bridgehampton (5-6). But when Furman, the Killer Bees’ starting point guard, fouled out in the third quarter, Lamison took over ball handling duties and aggressively attacked the rim in transition. “He was just playing the game, he didn’t even realize how many points he scored,” Johnson said. “When someone brought it to his attention, he was in shock. You should have seen the smile on the kid’s face. It was ear to ear.” .
