South Side 59, Mepham 54: Jake Murphy hit two free throws with 12.7 seconds remaining to increase the lead by one, 55-54, sealing the game and win for No. 3 South Side (18-3) over No. 11 Mepham in a Nassau Class A quarterfinal. Murphy finished with 20 points and Eamon McGowan added 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Cyclones who next play in the Class A semifinals at Farmingdale State at 6:30 on Saturday. Richie Vaquero scored 17 points and Mekhi Beckett had 14 points for Mepham.
